Forgive me readers for I have not written. It has been 2 months since my last post and I HAVE A TONNE TO SAY! Read more…
I will make this short and sweet as I need to get my life in order. LOL. I always wanna clean out my room, have a goal setting session with myself, and put the next race on my calendar. Today was disappointing to say the least. That being said, I have an incredible support team, including my family, friends, and the running community. I wanna give a big shout out to the Kaspersma and Antonio families who traveled from Stratford to watch me run! Read more…
For those of you who know me, you know that I am very optimistic, positive, and ‘world loving’ per se. This post will give you some insight into the other side of me. There is unquestionably a lot of hype in the air in Toronto as our FAKE Olympic Trials are about to commence. I must give props to Alan Brookes and The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon team. They have done an incredible job of promoting our sport. Furthermore, this is a first class event! That being said… Read more…
Aight Y’all…TWO MORE SLEEPS! I shouldn’t use an exclamation point or CAPITAL LETTERS as I am not that excited…YET. I am trying to play it cool. I will get excited around 32K. I hit the expo today with Jordan, dropped off some goodies for Brett, then hit the hotel for a little down time. I ran into two of my “fellow competitors” at the expo signing autographs at the New Balance booth. Read more…
As some of you know, I need all the help I can get come Sunday morning as I face not only the best Canada has to offer, but some of the world’s best marathoners. I have grown my hair for quite some time now. It all started when I began surfing. I just wanted to fit in…and toss my hair back after catching a gnarly wave. Read more…
I have decided to chill out a bit and just get in a few stride sessions instead of a formal workout. I typically like to hit the track for these sessions but I have been finishing my runs 2K from home and running hard for 30 seconds, and walking for 30 seconds. I like to run 6-10 x 30 seconds. These strides usually start out at 31 second/200m pace and get down to 28 ish…
I opened my MacBook Air to learn that Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple has died at the age of 56. I don’t know much about the Mr. Jobs or Apple but as a small business owner I can only imagine the struggles Mr. Jobs endured well before the release of the latest IPhone or IPad. I like to dedicate some of my bigger races to a particular person or cause. One of my most recent singlets had a picture of Regis Philbin on the front. I have been a HUGE Regis fan for as long as I can remember. Read more…
As I mentioned in my last blog entry, I worked out with the guys from Athletics Toronto on Friday morning…
Saturday morning I decided to run the alumni 5k at Thames Valley Golf Course an hour prior to the main events (women’s 5K and men’s 10K). This course is tough. The course record for the 10K is 30:57 held by Guy Schultz. Several people have tried to break this record over the past 10+ years and come up short. Read more…
I have not blogged in almost 2 weeks. For that, I apologize profusely. Immediately following the half marathon in Springbank I picked up a nice lil’ cold. I had to back off hard efforts for the week. That being said, I still managed to run 190K for the week with a few solid runs up Mount Royal in Montreal. I realized half way to Montreal that I forgot…MY RUNNING SHOES! Read more…
